Balance sheet and financial statements in Mind: assets, liabilities, equity, financial ratios and profit and loss

Balance sheet view, assets, liabilities and equity, financial ratios and period profit: reach a finance manager's statements from Logo data in Turkish with ready-made commands.

As period end approaches, a finance manager's questions turn to the accounting statements: how are assets and liabilities distributed, how much is owed, where is equity, where does profit come from. These statements come out of the accounting records and usually wait for an output prepared by a financial advisor or the accounting team. In iyibir Mind you reach the same statements by typing / in the question box; the cards are drawn from your company's Logo data.

Balance sheet: three commands

  • /balance-sheet-overview: assets and liabilities summary, Tekdüzen (Uniform Chart of Accounts) groups and balance sheet checks.
  • /balance-sheet-assets: assets; current and non-current assets, Tekdüzen groups and main accounts.
  • /balance-sheet-liabilities: short- and long-term debts, equity and period result.

For the general view you start with /balance-sheet-overview. It gives the assets and liabilities summary by the groups of the Tekdüzen chart of accounts and puts the balance sheet checks on the same card. To go into detail you run /balance-sheet-assets for the asset side and /balance-sheet-liabilities for the funding side. The latter shows short- and long-term debts, equity and the period result together.

The period is typed after the command: /balance-sheet-overview bu yıl (this year) or /balance-sheet-assets geçen yıl (last year). If you don't type a period, the command's default period is used.

Financial ratios

/financial-ratios gives liquidity, leverage and profitability ratios. A ratio alone is just a number; interpreting it takes comparison with a previous period. In Mind the way to do that is a follow-up question in the same conversation: "Geçen yılla karşılaştır." (Compare with last year.) Follow-up questions keep the previous report's module, period and board context.

Profit and loss, revenue and expense

  • /profit-loss: revenue, cost, expense and period profit.
  • /revenue-expense-analysis: period-over-period comparison of revenue and expense items.
  • /gross-margin-analysis: gross margin by product, customer and period.
  • /budget-vs-actual: comparison of budget and actual results.

The ready-made analyses also have a question form of the same topic: "Bu yıl hangi ürün grubu daha kârlı?" (Which product group is more profitable this year?) gives net sales, cost of sales, gross profit and margin by product group, with this year as the default period.

Financial summary and risk

/finance-overview reduces the finance, accounting, profitability, receivables and payables summary to one card. /financial-risk shows liquidity, debt, receivables and profitability risks separately. /general-ledger-overview looks at accounts, vouchers and accounting movements, and /tax-overview looks at the tax base, accrual and tax payable.

A balance sheet board

For a senior management meeting, run /balance-sheet-overview, /balance-sheet-assets, /balance-sheet-liabilities, /financial-ratios and /profit-loss in the same conversation. The five commands fill a single board. If you name the board and share it, the team sees it read-only; whoever wants to continue it with their own questions chooses "Bu panodan başla" (Start from this board). You can copy the table cards or download them as CSV.

What to keep in mind

  • The period determines the result. A command run without a period uses its own default period; the card shows the period and the data date.
  • Check which company and period are selected in the working scope; the scope button in the top bar shows it. If the scope changes, the board reloads with the new scope.
  • Not every command is equally complete. The menu shows a status next to each; when a command runs partially, the missing part is stated on the card in one sentence.
  • The card's "Nereden?" panel shows the query name, the Logo tables read, the period and the verification status. Looking there before taking a figure to a meeting is enough.

The cash, receivables and payables side

  • /cash-position: current cash position by cash and bank account.
  • /receivables-aging: receivables by due and delay bracket.
  • /payables-aging: supplier payables by days overdue.
  • /liquidity-forecast: liquidity forecast based on expected collections and payments.
  • /currency-exposure: foreign-currency assets, liabilities and exchange-rate risk.

The balance sheet gives the position at one moment. The cash, receivables and payables commands open the movement inside that position: in which due brackets the receivables on the balance sheet are gathered, when payables need to be paid, how exposed the foreign-currency items are to exchange-rate risk. Run in the same conversation, they are added under the balance sheet board as a natural continuation.

A question list for period end

  • How did the distribution of assets and liabilities change against the start of the period? (/balance-sheet-overview, then "Geçen yılla karşılaştır.")
  • What share of current assets are short-term debts? (/balance-sheet-liabilities and /balance-sheet-assets)
  • Where are the liquidity, leverage and profitability ratios? (/financial-ratios)
  • Which revenue and expense items make up the period profit? (/profit-loss, /revenue-expense-analysis)

Each question in this list can be deepened with a follow-up question after the relevant command has run.

Questions can be asked in Turkish too

You don't have to know the command. A freely written question such as "Bu yıl hangi ürün grubu daha kârlı?" is answered by a ready-made analysis; when you want a specific statement directly, for example the assets and liabilities summary, the command is the shortcut. The two combine on the same board. If your question matches no analysis or command, Mind says so and doesn't draw a statement that doesn't exist.

Mind writes nothing to Logo; these statements are only read. Preparing official balance sheets and financial statements remains the accounting team's job; Mind gives the finance manager fast access to these statements by asking.
